A great article I want to share with you from Wedding and Event Planner Wendy Robinson

10 Quick Tips On Getting Organized in 2010

1. DETERMINE YOUR GOALS.
Before you start anything, determine its goal. If you don't know where you're going, how will you ever get there? Set mini-goals and reward yourself for successes.

2. DECLUTTER YOUR DESK.
An uncluttered desktop erases unnecessary distractions and helps keep your mind on tasks that need immediate attention. Keep only the items on your desk that relate to your current projects.

3. DON'T RELY ON YOUR MEMORY.
You run the risk of letting tasks fall through the cracks. The best way to never forget an appointment, a deadline or a detail again, is to write everything down.

4. CONSOLIDATE SIMILAR ACTIVITIES.
Instead of starting and stopping at different levels of activity, you'll save time by making all of your outgoing telephone calls together, taking care of all your errands at once, etc.

5. CLEAN OUT YOUR FILES.
Before you go through the expense of purchasing more file cabinets, folders, etc., take the time to purge all unnecessary paperwork and materials.

6. USE ONE CALENDAR.
The biggest mistake people make when using planning calendars is to keep more than one. Keep personal, professional and family items on one calendar. It will help to eliminate scheduling conflicts. Remember, 'the man who wears two watches, never knows the correct time.'

7. REDUCE TELEPHONE TAG.
Plan telephone calls (whether to doctors, plumbers, clients, etc.) whenever possible. Have all necessary materials in front of you. Write key questions down in advance.

8. SET UP FILES FOR PROJECTS.
Don't waste time searching for papers when you need them. Keep all paperwork that pertains to a certain project together in one large folder.

9. SET TIME LIMITS.
Say, 'I've got only 5 minutes to talk.' Outline your calls, Say, 'I'd like to discuss these 2 possible solutions to problem A . . .'

10. MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF.
Make at least one screened appointment with yourself each day. Screened time is quiet, uninterrupted time allowing you to concentrate on a project or catch up on your reading.

Fireworks viewing: Throughout Uptown Charlotte and east side of Charlotte

The US Airways Family Fun Festival Presented by Mecklenburg County Park and Rec, Benefiting the Second Harvest Food Bank will be held at Memorial Stadium on Saturday July 4th beginning at 6:00pm. It will culminate with Red, White and Boom! 2009 presented by Lance bringing an evening of wholesome family fun to the nation’s birthday.

The Family Fun Festival at Memorial Stadium is free, with live music as well as games for kids of all ages. Mayor Pat McCrory and County Commission Chairman Jennifer Roberts will be on hand to help us flip the switch to set off the fireworks show. Sweetbriar Jam, a young and talented bluegrass band will play from 6:30-7:30 p.m. as well as Band of Gold kicking off at 8:00 until 9:15 p.m. There will be stadium and grass seating to watch the fireworks blast off at 9:30 p.m. so get there early for a prime spot!

Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be on sale inside the stadium…no food or beverages may be brought in. You are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to take advantage of the field for viewing. Parts of the stands that do not have a view of the fireworks will be blocked off, but most of the stands will be available for seating for optimum viewing.

The fireworks are being staged from the Central Piedmont Community College campus. Some streets around the campus will close at 8:00pm to accommodate the fallout zone, so expect traffic in that area to be heavy. Streets will reopen immediately following the show.

Red, White and Boom! 2009 presented by Lance fireworks show will be approximately 20 minutes long. The show begins at 9:30pm (weather and fire department clearance permitting). The show will be synched to a music track that will be heard exclusively on 96.9 FM WKKT, The Kat and played live at all viewing venues.

The show can be viewed from a variety of locations around the city. If you are in the eastern part of the city and you can see the skyline, chances are, you can see the fireworks display.

There is parking adjacent to the Stadium and ample parking in Uptown Charlotte, but on-street parking will be not be allowed to avoid restricting traffic lanes as fireworks viewers drive in and out of the city. Parking is discouraged in any of the neighborhoods surrounding the areas, including Elizabeth, First, Third and Fourth Wards. Please use commercial lots or transit.

•Practice reflection, meditation and introspective thinking for 30 minutes each morning. Many who allow constant input are keeping themselves in the shallow end of the wisdom pool. Don’t be one of them.

•Turn off the TV for at least two hours every evening

•Read your email at set times during the day – perhaps once in the morning and once in the evening. Don’t allow yourself to be interrupted with every new incoming message

•Spend four hours on Saturday without your cell phone or computer

•Plan one day a quarter on an “information fast.” Get away from your computer, your cell phone, TV and the newspapers. You’ll be amazed at how your creativity will increase – you may get the one idea that will change your future

•Read one good non-fiction book each month

1. If you buy something new for your home office. Donate something or toss something out.

2. Open your desk drawer and get rid of the things you really dont need. Keep only what you use.

3. Create a donate box and put items you dont need in the box. Clean out closets in your house! Give away 10 things you dont need you will feel so good.

4. Start opening your mail over the shredder and recycling bin. This will put a stop to things you dont need to keep!

5. Pick one thing and do now! Do just one small thing everyday and you will feel great I promise.

Last Minute Details Event Planning invites you to a another great event!

Please join us for food, fun and the celebration as we raise awareness for A Child’s Place and welcome The Outsource Resource to the community. An Open House will be held on June 20, 2009 from 11:00 am- 2pm at 1914 JN Pease Pl. Charlotte, NC 28262

The objective of this event will be to collect needed items for A Child’s Place. A Child’s Place is a collaborative effort between the Charlotte, NC community and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS). Founded in 1989, the goal of A Child’s Place is to erase the impact of homeless on children and their education.

The Outsource Resource is reaching out to the community through their open house to educate the community on the wonderful work of A Child’s Place and assist The Outsource Resource in collecting much needed items for A Child’s Place. Donation barrels will be placed throughout the event for the community to contribute.

The event is free and open to the public.

Congratulations to all brides on your upcoming wedding!

#1 - Only purchase from sites that offer REAL photographs of sample dresses that have been completed. Don't assume that because they use a designer's photo that the dress will look like the designer original. Take a close look at their sample photos, if available, to see the quality and attention to detail in a finished product.

#2 - Only purchase your gown from a retailer that offers a refund policy. There is no reason why an online gown retailer cannot guarantee the quality of their product. If they say, "well, it's a custom gown so we don't provide refunds" steer clear of them.

#3 - Steer away from Ebay unless the seller has a legitimate business outside of the site. There are too many fly by night wedding businesses that disappear in a matter of days on Ebay and then there's no way to track your purchase.

#4 - Only purchase gowns from sites that offer Paypal. Your payment is secure. Don't use money wire or transfer services.

#5 - It's best to use a US based company. This way you don't have to worry about time zone differences or language barriers.

Tips for Making your Holiday Great!

When was the last time that you really had a great holiday? I mean really had a great holiday that was relaxing from start to finish – not just a great dinner party or leaving fresh baked cookies for Santa. Well were here to let you know that with just a little planning and organization, you can have a great, stress free holiday! Here are a few tips to get you started.

Make a budget on how much you really want to spend.
Unless you have more money than Donald Trump, it is easy for the holiday season to turn into a financial nightmare. 99% of stress can be eliminated by thinking ahead and making a budget. You don’t have to spend a lot this holiday season, just spend wisely.

Decide how much you are going to spend and please stick to it!
Going over budget is not going to make your family and friends love you any more than they already do. How many times have you charged expensive gifts then a year later you are still paying for them? This year, break the tradition by drawing names, sending some lovely cards, or make desserts for your friends and family.

Give yourself the gift of time. How about purchasing a few months of housekeeping, or errand service instead of buying your self clothes? Purchase a gift certificate from your favorite restaurant so you don’t have to cook. By freeing up some time you can really sit back and enjoy more time with family and friends.

Remember your priorities. Take time to enjoy your family and friends this holiday season! So this December will be stress free and full of holiday spirit with a little bit of advance planning.
